Both Basic Solar and Advanced Solar use an external CT clamp to monitor energy flow, but the difference comes from where the clamp is installed and what energy it measures.

Basic Solar:

- Monitors surplus energy being exported from your property back to the grid.

- This means the charger can detect when your home is producing more energy than it is using.

- When enough surplus energy is available, the charger can use that excess energy to charge your vehicle.

Advanced Solar:

- Monitors the energy your solar panels are generating.

- This allows the charger to respond to the amount of solar energy being produced by your system.

Please note:

- Advanced Solar is not recommended for properties with home battery storage. If you have a solar-battery hybrid system, the charger cannot isolate and monitor the solar generation on its own, making the system logic conflict. For homes with battery storage, Basic Solar is the best and most reliable setup to ensure your car and home battery work together smoothly.

The right setup ultimately depends on your property, solar system, and installation requirements.
